Baking By grandmaruth Updated 18 Aug 2010 , 1:06pm by cakegroove
I am thinking of crushing some plain doughnuts for some cake balls...does anyone have any idea on getting the cider flavored frosting to mix with it? Also...a doughnut flavored cupcake mix? with a cider type flavored frosting? If anyone can help me...it will be someone from cc...thank you
Here are a couple of links to apple cider icing:

I really could not find a true doughnut cupcake recipe, but here is a cute idea:

Edited to add: Your idea about doughnut "cake" balls sounds yummy.
By the coffee, tea and hot chocolate in the grocery store you should find some spiced cider mix. It comes in packets like cocoa. I've used it to flavor cakes and frostings. Add just a little water and you've got a concentrated flavor that is really, really good!
My hubby says cake balls taste like mini donuts! Said to me "why didn't you just go to Tim Hortons and buy donut holes and put them on sticks? LOL
