I would like to try a combination of a vanilla bean and irish cream cake, I would put one side vanilla, one side irish (its a one tier flat, squarish cake, a rack of ribs to be precise) and then in the middle I was planning on cutting up little squares and layering them one after another (like a brick wall) to make a chocolate and vanilla section of the cake.

I am pretty new to cake decorating/making (made my first cupcake barely 1 yr. ago) and I was wondering if anyone knows if I can simply replace the vanilla extract for the juice in a vanilla bean? and if anyone knows of any irish cream (preferably chocolate) recipes, I've found one but it doenst look very good. Also has anyone ever attempted this style of cake? I have no idea if it will actually work or not.
