I am attempting my first topsy turvey cake in a couple weeks. I am reading as much as I can to be able to get it together. My question is the decorations. We want a buttercream frosting and then use fondant for the decorations. It will be stars and circles. Do I make them the same day I put the cake together or do I do it a couple days before hand and let them dry?? After I frost the cake with buttercream do I put it back in the fridge or freezer or should I frost the cake the same day I make it. Any advise on anything would be great!!!
Personally, I would same myself some time and make the fondant decorations a day or two ahead of time, that way it's ready to go straight onto the cake they day you frost it.
As far as refrigeration, I never put a cake in the fridge. And, especially after putting on mmf decorations. It makes the mmf sweat.
Hope this helps!!
