Aaarrrrgggggg OMG I just baked the cake it was a DH vanilla cake using the cake mix extender recipe with a packet of pudding. I followed the directions for the pan and even baked it an extra 10 mins and then cooled it by the pan directions the top of the cake was done and when I had put the a toothpick in the it was clean when I flipped the pan over to cool on it's back side and the middle of the cake was one gooey mess. Now I don't understand this was the bottom of the cake as it cooked in the oven... there is a gapping whole in the middle of the cake. Why did this happen??????
it probably was too hot and thats why it cooked rapidly around the edges and was still undone in the middle. In what shape is it, could you pop it back into the pan or is it damaged? If you could you could put it back in the oven at 300 and bake it for a while longer so the middle could get done. I would suggest covering it with foil so it doesn't get too dark. If not try baking it the next time at a slightly lower temp. about 325. and make sure to poke with a toothpick in several places before you take it out. Also using an upside down flower nail in the middle of the cake pan should help out as well.
HTH!
