I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to determing how much fondant is needed for cakes. Say a 14-10-6" just wondering how you determine how much to use. Satin ice is expensive (compared to homemade) and I would want to charge appropriatly but to do that I need to know how much I need.

PS Im not making the above mentioned cake size just using it as an example.
Thanks

Perfect measurements- I did that exact one a couple of weeks ago.

I rolled out 8 lbs and that was sufficient. I would just buy 10 lbs.- that's more than enough!

I've noticed that several of the websites have charts for calculating. Look at CakesbySam. She has one that you can download for free. SugarCraft.com and Earlene's.com are the latest 2 that I've found. And Wilton has one also.
