Hi Cakers!!
I have offically hit a dead end in my head. I have a cake due in a couple weeks. The colors requested was Tourquise and Brown. It is going to be a shoe cake. I have the shoe done. However, I was wanting to make some type of cute flowers or other accents to go with it.
My question......what third color would compliment the other colors??
=)
Michael
.....it is a 10" round cake iced in white BC icing
I personally would use a pink for flowers.
is it a shoe box the shoe is sitting on? what colours/ pattern is the shoe?
i would be thinking white or light blue, or even a dark blue in a shimmery colour...
but i think any blue or pink (although i am thinking electric) would work. and yellow could be awesome too, although i think more so if the main colour is turqoiuse rather than brown.
anything goes it seems!
xx
I appreciate the replies. It is not a "shoe box" cake. It is going to be a 10" round cake in BC icing. The shoe is going to be on top.
Yellow sounds good. I also thought that a different shade of brown and tourquise, but I was thinking it would be overbearing in the same colors??
Thanks....
Michael
Did they say, "Turquoise, brown, and whatever else you think would look good."? Or did they just say turquoise and brown? I'm always hesitant to just go ahead and add some other colors if the recipient didn't request them.
If they said whatever else looks good, then I would probably go with pink. But if they didn't say anything else, then I would probably go with white or ivory.
Having used the values below at this color coordinating site which lets you customize up to 5 different colors to see how well they go together:
http://www.colorspire.com/
I'd go with the pale yellow or white.
1 turquoise: #8EF6E5
2 brown: #8E3E00
3 pale yellow: #FDFFB0
4 pastel pink: #FFB6EA
5 white: #FFFFFF
First thing that came to mind was Peacock. Maybe a Purple or a gold.
Hi Cakers!
I just wanted to post the results of my cake that I had a question about with the third color...
http://www.cakecentral.com/cake-photo_1761942.html
I decided to stick with the same colors. Just a darker shade.
Again, thank you all for the input. This site really helps me out so much!
Take Care,
Michael
