Smash Cakes - Top Tier Or On The Side?

Making a 1st birthday cake with a 6" smash. I could either tier it or have it separate from the party cake. Is there a preference?

I always include a seperate 4" smash cake with each 1st bday order. It's seperate and decoated in buttercream in basic colors to match the cake. HTH. Post pics when it's done! icon_smile.gif

I always make it seperately myself. I also ice the smash cake with buttercream.
