Tips On Sugar Gun..going To Attempt Making Grass

Hello all,
I just bought an extruder gun after i have heard of all the things you can do with it. I will be attempting to make grass as a border with it on a 14" cake. For those that have done this before, please any tips will be appreciated. Do i put in little fondant and squeeze out the grass bit by bit or can i do a long strand or whats the easiest way to get the grass and the technique that i might employ to get nice looking grass.
Also, do i have to dry the grass first before puting it on the cake or can it just go on the cake? I will like some of the grass to be standing up around the border as well.
Many thanks for all your help.
i dont have one of these, yet, but id imagine its faster to make a long strip, then cut it up an attatch. but i think just using bc and a grass tip might be faster still!
xx
I have an extruder, and honestly, all I use that die for is hair - I use the grass tip for grass- much easier. that fondant will be hard to attach. or at least I would think it would be, but I'm not a pro ![]()
you maybe just need to stiffen your bc?
try the extruder and see how it goes! its what caking is all about! maybe use green royal to help secure it in place? not having done it, i dont know if edible glue would be strong enough?
xx
