I've been tasked to create a VW Bus cake for this weekend. I've figured out the dimensions I want to use to be: 9" length; 4" width; 4" height. So, I was thinking this would be right around 4 1" layers. My question is: do I need to put a cake board in the center of the layers to keep it sturdy or would it hold up with strictly the 4 layers??
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!![]()
Are you planning to stack it with long rectangular pieces, like from a bread pan? Then no, the weight of all the layers will be fine and you don't need boards in between the layers. But if you're putting the bus on top of another cake, then yes, that would need more support.
