That's what I'm talking about...right there. There's a great line from "Tommy Boy" I love about "quality" and guarantees, but it's rather inappropriate for this site. It rings true though...
Just once, I'd love to see a HUGE cake that is made only of cake, with the exception of a few minor supports/armature. Fondant is fine...but it shouldn't define a "cake"...then it becomes Fondake.
maybe I'm just a stickler...

I think Buddy Valastro meets that criteria pretty well. He's made some huge cakes that fit the 90% edible bill.
The Medieval Times half stadium cake that he made on the last show I saw had at least $100 worth of RKTs in it, but it was still edible!

I know...I don't mind a little bit of styrofoam here and there, usually if that many servings of cake is not needed or something...but just styrofoam sculptures covered in fondant...done on a regular basis...well...that's kinda lame...I think. At least mold RKT or something.
I agree, I got so excited when one of the cake shows was going to do Hogwarts Academy, I thought "Oh, WOW, this'll be great to watch them build!" and then lo and behold, it was completely fake! The lawn was the only actual cake in the whole thing, which was really disappointing for me.
