Hi,
New to this site. Just starting to make cakes. Love it so far! Question is how do you get your butter cream icing to go on smooth? I've seen some of the cakes on here and its done so well it looks like fondant.
Thanks for all your help!

A member on this site, Sugarshack. has a great DVD out that goes thru the steps of icing a buttercream cake. Her cakes are really, really smooth. Take a look at her photo gallery on here. I highly rrecommend her DVDs. I was able to see her demo at the Evening of Sharing at the Great American Cake Show. She is an amazing teacher. I'm hoping to have an opportunity to attend one of her classes sometime.

Since discovering Melvira, I refuse to do any cake without my roller! And I am a 30-year-BC gal!

You can also take a look at Tutugirl's post showing how she gets a smooth buttercream. I haven't had a chance to try it, but I will.

Thanks everyone for your replies.
I know it will take practice. I just wasn't even sure what tool to use to get it to go smooth...yes I'm that new at this, but I love it so far!
Thanks again!
