Can You Add Lor Ann Oils To Flavor Gumpaste?

I am just wondering if you can flavor gumpaste with a bit of LorAnn oils so it doesn't taste so bland?

i wouldnt eat gumpaste myself break my teeth i think icon_smile.gif

sk?Boy, I can't think of a reason to eat gumpaste. Very curious why you asked.

Some people like to eat the flowers and I thought they might taste better if flavored a bit.

KiddieKakes. I haven't tried it so I don't have an answer for you, but I think I would just take a small piece of gumpaste and try it. As a matter of fact, I am going to go do that right now. I'll be back to let you know what happens!

ok, so, I took about 1/2 oz. of gumpaste and started with 1 drop of loranne amaretto oil. It didn't change the consistency of the gumpaste and didn't taste very good either. I went up to 3 drops of the oil in the gumpaste. The consistency was still good and the taste was much better, but it still wouldn't be something I crave! icon_biggrin.gif

Im just starting in on cake decorating but I see people eat gumpaste all the time at events. I dont think it tastes all that great but I could see where adding flavoring would make it more enjoyable for those who want to eat it.

Are they eating gumpaste or fondant? They could be fondant flowers, takes a lot longer to dry but would be more edible then the gumpaste.
