I plan to attempt to make valentine day cookies to mail this weekend. I have never mailed many baked items, or even made alot of cookies.. I would most appreciate any recipe that anyone has for a cookie that i can make into a heart and perhaps a small hart with ???? in the middle. This cookie needs to travel well and please give me all the instructions you can as this is a very special project for me. Thanks in advance

Search the recipes for No Fail Sugar Cookie, they are the perfect roll out cookies. They are sturdy yet soft to eat.

Hate to be the bad news person, but I was going to mail my mom's b'day cookies (ended up taking them instead.) and found out how expensive it is to ship them! My flight was cheaper than sending the cookies! so that's the only downfall of shipping the cookies. But whomever gets them will love them, I'm sure!

I ship SC cookies decorated with RI every week all across the country and don't have any problems. USPS has very reasonable if not cheap rates. They will even supply you with free "flat rate" boxes, order them online. I shrink wrap each cookie after the RI has dried then put each one in a cello bag, tied. Pack the cookies in a snug box; first line the box with bubble wrap overlapping the box, stand the cookies upright and fill in any spaces with packing peanuts. Fold over and tape the bubble wrap and tape the box closed. Put that box in a shipping box, not too much bigger, also lined with bubble wrap. Fill in the empty spaces again with peanuts and tape the box closed. Your cookies are secure and ready to ship icon_smile.gif

I posted this the other day about shipping cookies.

I had no problems with shipping costs. The pictured package cost me $6.00 to ship priority (within the same state).
