Its been in the oven for almost 2 hours, I keep insertinga freaken dowel and its still coming up with bits in it. I have never dome banana cake before so dont know if its suppose to be like that.
I used yellowboxed mix
banana pureei
I added banana pudding cause it didn't taste like banana
eggs
oil
milk
I hope I didn't mess this up.
thank you any help will be appreciate it
Has the cake pulled away from the sides? If so, that's how I tell it's done.
Plus I would use a toothpick, not a dowel!!!! Hopefully you didn't have too
much liquid since you added puree and milk.
This happened to me with a chocolate cake. I finally noticed the element was kaput. After that, I watched the element catch fire and it was all sparkly and everything. LOL
So: electric or gas oven? Does the oven feel like it's at the right temperature?
that sounds like a lot of liquid. I am sending you good baking vibes, I think you are going to need them. The puree makes a really dense cake, I found that if I cook it at 300 for about 2 hours it comes out pretty decent, but long slow baking is the ony way I can get my banana cake to come out done.
oh use a toothpick or cake pick, not dowel to check for doneness, even a nice knife will work.
