I just delivered my first wedding cake this afternoon! Whew! Four tiers, and it all arrived safely and no mishaps or cake wrecks. I feel like all the other cakes I've done since starting my business at the end of last year just kind of led up to today. I have another one in two weeks, so I can't rest on my laurels for too long, but today felt GOOD.

Way to go! It's great to get the pressure of your first wedding cake off your back huh?
congratulations, i know the feeling i did my first one last year that wasn't for someone in the family i think ya get just as nerveous as the bride but once it's done it's a great sense of relief, got two nxt month and i'm as nerveous as hell,
Congrats and Great Job! I have my first wedding in August and I'm a little nervous too.
Yeah, I was even more nervous as I was putting the top two tiers on, since half the bridal party decided to come out and watch the process. I felt like saying, "look guys, I'm glad you all like to watch cakes being put together but I'm ALREADY nervous here, okay???" I could just see the top slipping, or my finger or cake lifter swiping the side of the cake. But fortunately it all came together just fine.
When the order was placed, it was just going to be a three tier cake, which I could have transported all stacked (and away from curious eyes), but then a couple weeks ago she called and said she had guest creep of about 25 people, so she wanted to add a fourth tier. SO....my first wedding cake went from a simple three tier to me being thrown into the deep end. My next wedding cake is June 5, but it will just be three tiers, on short pillars, with real roses in between the tiers. I'm not worried about it after doing this one!
