What Goes Under Satin Ribbon On Buttercream Cake?

I have a cake needing a double-faced satin ribbon around each base. What do you put under the ribbon to keep the satin from getting oily?
I try to get the ribbon that can stand out doors, if this is impossible then i have heard to use press and seal the same size of the ribbon and put it on to the ribbon then on the cake. If you let your BC icing crust it wont be as bad.
You could cut wax paper or parchment paper the exact size of ribbon to put under it

That's what I do if I have to use real ribbon. I like to use only fondant ribbon because it's the only one that's really food safe. ![]()
