I'm new to cake decorating. I have an order for a layer cake to be picked up on Monday. If I make it on saturday, will it be ok?

yep, just as long as it's covered in icing it'll be fine!

Are you saying make it on saturday as in finish decorating or baking? It should be fine either way. Once you put the frosting on the cake, it kinda "seals" the cake and keeps the moisture in. I know the cakes at the bakery I work at have a 5 day shelf life, and a cake I made at home once sat on my counter (uncut) for 2 weeks. When I finally sliced into it to try some (out of curiosity) it was just as moist as the cupcakes were at the party.
