How To Make 3D Astronaut Topper???- Urgent

Hi everybody,
I need desperate help in making a 3D astronaut topper who'll be holding an american flag.
I want to attmpt the astrunaut something like the pic attached but with fondant/gumpaste and not styrofoam.
Any help on this will be highly appreciated!

Depending on how big I would either use gumpaste/fondant 50/50 with paper dowels (lollipop sticks) for support or if it's a big figure, I've done stuff like that with RKT and covered that with fondant and painted it. I did a donkey with a flag doing the 50/50 and it worked pretty good. It was about 5" tall.
