Fondant & Round Cake???

Is there any way to cover a round cake with rolled fondant?? No, I don't mean a flat round cake, I mean a globe shaped cake!!

do it the same way you would a flat round cake, pulling out and "chopping" away at the sides, trimming underneath. Somebody else here had that same question a while back and if I remember right that's how she did it with some success. Don't ask me what thread it was though! icon_rolleyes.gif

Yup...That's how I covered my penis cake,,I mean the testicle area..... icon_redface.gificon_redface.gif I just kept smoothing and tucking.Boy that doesn't sound very good does it!! icon_wink.gifthumbs_up.gif

It's hard but it can be done. I tried it on an ornament cake (in my pictures). I couldn't get the bottom just right but it's only my 2nd fondant cake. Good luck!

Yep, smoothing and tucking is the way to go (you naughty gals!). If an area starts to pucker, just pull it away from the cake and smooth again. It helps if you elevate the cake on a smaller cake pan or can.

Just for the record this is not going to be a naughty cake. Also, if the the cake is a half golobe with the flat side up (like a coffee cup) do I need to do anything to make the fondant stick to the cake/styrofoam (it's going to be a dummy).

Use piping gel to make the fondant stick to the styro. Water won't work as well.
