Hello, is it OK to re-use a masonite cake board? They're so much sturdier than cardboard. I know the cardboard cakeboards are pretty much useless once they've been used. Also does anyone have any tips on where to get them the cheapest. From the research I've done so far, countykitchensa.com is good and ebay has some cheap prices with free shipping. ![]()
Thanks
Surely you're going to cover it before you put a cake on it, right? Just remove the covering and they are reusable.
I get mine from , usually.
Actually, Masonite is an all-natural product made without glues, resin, formaldehyde or chemicals--just steam blasted wood fibers pressed together using heat--so as long as you are getting REAL masonite (not other types of MDF or fiberboard that are made with glues and chemicals) they are 100% natural and safe for food contact, and you can place your cake right on them.
They are reusable (but after prolonged exposure to moisture, they do sometimes swell and become unusable after a while), but I use them in place of cardboard under every tier of my cake and consider them a disposable/consumable product that I do not ask to be returned.
not sure what you're paying for them but this place seems cheap to me!! They ship super fast too!!
