ok,
I tried to make french macarons for easter using the info in the cc mag and another web site........... what a disaster. they came out just little puddles of goo.........
then, this week, I discover bakerella did a blog on how to make them (thanks to tartlette)
so I decided to try again.......... they were so easy and yummy.
I worship them both
the filling is marscapone cheese and key lime curd (store bought) whipped until light.
it was yummy
Ditto on the correct spelling. macaroons are a whole 'nother cookie.
You actually should have titled your thread All hail Tartelette and her macarons! (since they are hers.....)
Oh, I have been wanting to try these for over a year now, but I'm too chicken. Yours look absolutely fabulous!
Me too. I've been wanting to try them every time i saw them at the bakery. Too chicken because they look so difficult. I printed the recipe and am looking forward to trying them out now. Thanks!
Wow! These really look yummy! Thanks for sharing! I think I'll give this recipe a try tomorrow...Sunday is my "experiment" day! Yippee!
Thanks for giving me hope ! I've tried to make macarons 3 times - all were failures....maybe I will try tartlettes recipe via Bakerella !
p.s. - your macarons look fantastic !
I think the key was I found almond flour at whole foods and it was already ground fine, I just had to sift once.
I also used superfind granulated sugar. don't know if the made a difference but couldn't help.
BTW
they were even better the second day
I just bought a book at Borders that is about nothing but making these cookies - and the buttercream for inside too! I am busy making decorated cookies for my son's wedding this weekend. But after that I intend on tackling these babies. I just love the look of them. And all the different colors! Heaven.
hi, single
these are pronounced like macaroons but are french ant totally different (no coconut)
Very light, very tasty and you can be so creative.
Check out this web site for more info:

and bakerella's site too of course.
Linda, what it the name of the book? I have a borders gift certificate I've been saving and that sounds perfect.
There's something so appealing about these cookies! I've always been too much of a chicken to give them a try, but now I'm thinking "why not".

Like you I was so intimidated, and my first attempt was a total disaster but I hate to fail and they are soooo expensive at my local bakery so I just had to try again.
Have fun and be sure to let us know how they come out and what flavor combo you make.
I need to try these again....I also hate to fail a recipe.....but I have two times with these babies ! The third time is the charm, right ?
OMG - Nannie those look absolutely picture PErFECT! I'm inspired to try them now...I've been thinking about making them for a long time. Good to know you've found a recipe that works.
Thanks!
Would love to see a support group for these- I have attempted twice and although they tasted okay, they weren't pretty! I have an upcoming wedding and would love to make these for it.
