Question About Gumpaste - Refrigerate??
Decorating By beachmama Updated 9 Apr 2010 , 11:14pm by springlakecake
I am making a treehouse cake. The outside will be covered in gumpaste planks. I haven't worked with gumpaste much before and was wondering if the gumpaste planks will refrigerate ok or not. I'd like to put the planks on today and work on finishing details for the treehouse tomorrow AM. The planks will be stuck to chocolate icing and in the fridge for about 24 hours. Will the planks stay solid or will they get soft from being stuck in the icing for so long? Thanks for any help you can offer!
I never refrigerate my gumpaste as the moisture makes it soft. However there are certain brands that can be refrigerated, I just don't know what they are.
I would wait. Do you have to put the cake in the fridge?
I tried putting a gumpaste bow in the fridge and it didnt go well. Maybe the harder the gumpaste the better if it has to go in
