Fondant Color Faded

I just did 1st fondant covered cake.....3 tier topsy turvy bright purple, hot pink, and lime green......It was an outside party sun seemed to fade the colors.....does anyone know why......the smash cake I did stayed perfectly colored ......Thanks in advance for any information.....

pinks tend to be very unstable and will fade quickly in the sun. Your purple and pink would have that color base in common and that is what happens. Even the other colors will fade, but the pink and purple seem to fade the quickest.

Is there a way to make sure it dont happen again?

Keep it out of the direct sunlight. Try different brand of coloring, I find that crystal colors don't seem to fade like the others, or if they do its not at quickly. You can find them at globalsugarart. or at the manufacturers site www.sugarpaste.com
