Lightning Mcqueen Theme Cake And Cuppys

I wanted to do a scene from the movie and have a gumpaste mcqueen and mater on top but there not coming out so well,anyone have any tips on making them? also i have to do some cupcakes also cars themed,i wanted lil fondant toppers but im blank about what they should be (i want something simple).this cake is due thursday so i gotta get cracking on the figures and toppers like today so any ideas will help.thanks
