I am donating a cake to our local child abuse center. I am going to put an edible image on with their logo. What kind of border do you use or do you just put it on with no border?
You can use any kind of border - piped buttercream shells or dots, or a ribbon. Anything you like

you can either make the border be a part of the design or make the edges of the paper disappear altogether. Here are a few examples of some I've done.
