Hi! Alright so I was wondering, if I wanted to do filled cupcakes, what would I need to do? Like a cupcake filled with a flavored frosting or anything really, how would I go about that?

Thanks!!

I recently made strawberry cupcakes and filled them with a whipped strawberry icing. I just put the filling in a pastry bag fitted with tip #5 and filled each cupcake from the top by gently pressing the tip into the cupcake a squeezing. They turned out great and my daughter thought it was the neatest thing!

Hi Lia,

I've filled cupcakes with
- the same frosting as the cupcake
- a little jam that goes with the cake flavour
- chocolate ganache (personal fave)
- lemon pie filling (for lemon cupcakes)
- apple puree for spice cupcakes

You only really need a tsp-tbsp (depending on cupcake size). Using a smallish tip (5 maybe) or an eclair filler (wilton 230) poke the cake in three spots, inject a little filling, pull out. Then frost over the top, the holes aren't an issue. People seem to love a filling that contrasts with the cake, so I like to do vanilla cupcakes w chocolate filling etc.

Let us know what you end up doing! Good luck.

Thanks a lot! I was figuring it would involve just poking and piping haha. I was thinking about doing a chocolate cupcake with a peanutbutter frosting filling for my friend. Thanks for all the help!

Yummm....chocolate cake filled with pb frosting sounds delicious.

I was thinking of doing peanut butter and jelly cupcakes for my DD's bday...vanilla (or maybe chocolate) cake filled with strawberry jam and topped with peanut butter frosting.

I just added filled cupcakes to my menu. I make a Boston Creme cupcake, apple spice cupcake, lemon raspberry filled cupcake, chocolate peanut butter cupcake (yummy by the way), strawberry cheesecake cupcake, cookies n creme cupcake, and coconut creme cupcake. They are big hits around here! HTH

Strawberry Cheesecake cupcakes sound amazing, if you don't mind sharing, how do you do them??
I have only done a chocolate cupcake filled with a marshmallow whipped frosting covered in ganache- really good but I need to get adventurious!
Thanks!

If you sell these, do you charge a lot more for filled cupcakes vs unfilled cupcakes?? I would like to add these to my list, but am unsure what to charge.
TIA- meggylou

For the strawberry cheesecake one, I mix Philadelphia cream cheese cheesecake filling ( new item in a tub) with strawberry filling and pipe it into the cupcake and top with a cream cheese frosting. I charge $2.00 per cupcake when they are filled. I have not had a problem selling for that price. Customers just love them!

Oh I forgot, when I make the cupcakes, I add a box of cheesecake flavored instant pudding and an extra egg to a vanilla cake mix.
