My son turns 2 in August and I would LOVE to make an amazing Cat in the Hat cake. I'm not that experienced with fondant, but I have a while to practice. Not really sure how to go about making that 'hat'. I've seen it badly done icon_surprised.gif and want to avoid that! Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I made one. It was only the third cake I have covered with fondant and it was a last minute request for my daughter's class. I have just recently started decorating but I can tell you that I would have made a trial run on a dummy cake if I had the time. The hardest part was that I seemed to have a lot of fondant on the sides since it was tall and skinny. It might be easier to cut some out and then smooth the edges together. Good luck and I am sure your son will love it no matter what. He is the one that really counts!!
