I am baking my first wedding cake as for my sister's wedding anniversary. I am doing it in tiers with the grecian pillars that push into the bottom layer. I know that it is best to put my cake onto cake boards instead of being directly on the separator plates, but what do you cover the cardboard circles with. For regular cakes I have covered them in heavy duty aluminum foil. Should they be in some similar foil taped to the bottom of the circle...or should I taped something thinner to the boards...like maybe parchment paper?
