I used this several weeks ago. It is a great video and very easy to follow. I just sat by the computer with my fondant and kept pausing it as needed.

I made 7 different breeds for my daughter's birthday last year. I just realized that I didn't post it, so it's uploading right now and you can see.
Whenever you do figurines you want to think in basic shapes, then add the details.

I would also suggest adding some gumpaste to the fondant. I can't get 100% fondant to work ever, before it sags and bends.
