I just wanted to share how my day was with folks that would appreciate it! I have to thank my wonderful friend Heather for inviting me to share the tickets she won to have breakfast with Mary Alice & Geoff from the "Ace of Cakes"!! We got to spend about an hour schmoozing with them this morning in Columbus. There were about 20 of us at the event. Lots of pics, laughs, and fun! They are just like they are on tv - she is bubbly and ornery, and he is very laid back and kinda quiet. GREAT FUN - thank you Heather!! ![]()
Congratulations to Becky Rink for winning 1st place in the cake competition - your cake was awesome!!
Totally cool!! I think that I'd rather meet them than Duff, myself. ![]()
Oh I KNOW I'd rather meet them than Duff. I'm glad you have a great time! Can't wait to see the pics. Oh and I love Geoff's deadpan sort of humor!
I didn't get many pics, but here they are! The cakes are from the competition that was going on later that same day (Mary Alice and Geoff were the judges) I thought the competitors would be at the breakfast, but they weren't invited. (they had to set up for the competition?) Anyways, thanks for the nice comments, it was a blast! Here they are:

That cake was awesome, it took 2nd place. The "tank" at the bottom was an acrylic box that she put pulled sugar pieces in and then layered it with isomalt to make it look like a fish pond. It looked REAL. You can't tell, but there is a pulled sugar dragon on the top of the cake. The cake artist for that cake is Susan Larson of LaGatieu (not sure of that spelling) here in Ohio. She is known for her pulled sugar work.
I think Mary Alice looks great after losing all that weight! Good for her! I think she's funny too!
