How big do you need it? I had to make a big one & was limited on time so I couldn't build a good structure, so I couldn't make it look like it was taking off. You can use several layers of cardboard and carve them to the shape of the bottom of the plane then stack cake on top of it and carve. Then you have something on the bottom for structure to lift it up. I would use something sturdy like thin boards or heavy cardboard for the wings and cover them in fondant.

I just did one. I'll add them to my photos. I'm a 'newbie' remember but you can possibly get some ideas from mine.

Ask anything you need.
