I'm seeking help for ideas regarding carving a trombone cake or any other ideas that is centered around a trombone cake

that's a "real" trombone. The "case" is the cake 
Oops! Sorry about that- faulty memory.
I've done a carved sax cake before but I don't think it would work for a trombone because of the slide. The slide would be too thin to carve. Hmmm. Maybe join some sheets cakes and have the bottom part be the case and the top carved like a trombone? Since the trombone would be on a solid surface (the case), that might work. It might also work to make the trombone out of rice krispie treats and have it sitting on the case.
If it weren't for that darned long slide, huh? LOL
