Wow some of these threads make me not want to have anyone over to my home, esp with kids.

I have an in-law relative who was terribly injured in a car accident. The driver was a kid driving his parent's vehicle. I remember this inlaw saying after the accident that his lawyer told him he could go after the parents of the driver and get everything they owned. This sounded like BS to me. Sure enough, in the end, the total award to all the injured people was $1,000,000 -- the amount of the insurance policy.

My brother was sued for a car accident. I forget the exact details, but it was something ridiculous like he was on a bridge, someone tried to pass him in the fog, and the passing vehicle got into a head on collision with an approaching vehicle. The lawsuit was started by the vehicle that was passing in the fog on a bridge. Anyway, he just gave the info to his insurance company and they dealt with it.
