How can I make my scrolls a metallic gold color. Is it done i white royal icing then hand painted gold.

Well....it depends? If you look at mine, I hand paint it on fondant. You can do RI and paint over it (sounds like a lot of work) but if the 3-D texture is what you want, then gotta do it!

I have done this many times and yes you can use royal or buttercream to make the scrolls and then once it has crusted up you can brush on/paint on the gold luster dust that has been liquified (I use vodka). This will not cover in one pass so you will need to repaint it again. Have patience to let it dry well before the second coat or you will get lumps. Good luck!
