I saw in one of the threads on here that someone used a steam cleaner and liked it. I'm dying to get one, but I've heard mixed things.
I'm sorry this is in a weird forum for this, but the only thing I can remember is that I read the thread here, I can't remember who posted it!
I'm dying to know what kind do you have and what do you use it for?
Thanks!

Are you speaking of the portable, hand held clothes steamers to use for steaming gumpaste flowers? I have one, bought it because Nic Lodge uses one. I think they are worthwhile if you do lots of gumpaste flowers, but if you only want to steam a small bouquet for a cake I think it is faster and easier to do it on the stove over a pan of steaming water. With the steamer it's getting it out, filling it and waiting for it to get to the correct steaming temperature. A pan of water on the burner gets hot faster in my opinion.
I use a steam cleaner to clean my shop equipment ( also steam flowers over a pot of boiling water or tea kettle.lol)..
I use to to loosen all the 'crusty bits' that get stuck into nooks and cranies. I don't bother using it for the floor since good ole elbow grease and detergent take care of the floor dirt.
I use it about...once a week...at the most and as little as once a month, depending on how busy I've been.
HTH.
I seem to remember a thread about cleaning your kitchen and I believe the steam cleaner came up then.
I could not live without my steam cleaner. In fact it is heating up as I write this. My first one broke and I couldn't wait to get another.
I steam my window blinds and in spots I can't seem to get into. My mixer I steam to clean the areas I can't get to, stove, dishwaser, refregerator, drapes, light fixtures, around the faucets.
When I clean I just take it from room to room. I tried using tooth picks for spots I can't get into but they would break.
I have one that looks like a small vaccum cleaner
I have a Scuncii steamer and I love it. I wouldn't try to clean my fridge without it! It's amazing what it can just blast away! I also use it for my stove, around my sink, my outside grill...everywhere except for the floor. DH bought mine for me at Target.
Great for cleaning silk flower arrangement. I just cleaned my fridge with it. I love to clean, really.
Bad, I took the top off to refill before it cooled and really burnt my hand.
I also use distilled water. We have hard water and that may be why my first one died.
I think it goes a long time before I have to refill it. I did find out if I'm not going to use it right away unplug it. The water evaporates if I keep it pluged in.
And, I cleaned my light fixture where I couldn't reach.
Brand? I think I bought mine at Sears.
You guys are great! I'm totally psyched to get a new cleaning thing this weekend...how sad is that!
I think with a toddler, it's going to come in particularly helpful!
I'm off to really dirty this joint up so I can clean the heck out of it Saturday ![]()

It's a hand held steam cleaner. I think it was approx. $60 It's been so long. Just go to your local Sears and check it out
I really do like to clean. My husband told me why don't I clean houses on the side. But, with the cleaning come the re-orgnizing and I don't think that would be appriciated. My own children have to ask be where something is when they come over, they know it's been moved.
I forgot It's great for cleaning between the stove and counter, under the fridge. I cleaned the fridge today and used it to get into courners. I thought it would break the glass but it didn't. I might be pushing my luck with that one.
WYS, you made me laugh. I am the same way, if I get something new I end up cleaning the whole house.
I'm telling you if you have silk flowers it's a lot less than buying the expensive cleaner.
