There is a petition for a bakers law in the state of California. I contacted the baker who created the petition to get more information but wanted to know if anyone in CA was aware of this effort.

I'm in CA and so far haven't signed. I guess I will, but I really doubt its validity. Online petitions are almost always bogus. I truly, truly would love for this one to be real, but I just don't believe it is. Sorry to poo poo on everyone's hope. I'll sign, though...just in case...

Can any State do this and have it work? It would be wonderful to start this petition in AZ.

I will jump in here because I *think* I am the first person who started an online petition to my State Senator.

Online petitions are legally worthless. The only thing they are good for is showing the Powers That Be the level of interest in your cause.

I ONLY started the petition after I had a meeting arranged with my Senator's staff to discuss my proposition. I wanted to show them the level of interest our movement had. In particular, I wanted them to see some of the heartbreaking comments left by people in our state who would love the right to legally sell from home, and how not being able to do this affects their lives.

If someone isn't actively coordinating this effort and lobbying California lawmakers, then the petition by itself will do nothing.

Any updates on this?
