Hi all,
I am making a Mardi Gras themed cake and the colors are Purple Green and Gold. I really don't want to use yellow in place of gold fondant. How do i go about painting the fondant gold? I have gold dust, but it's too pale. before i go and order, I wanted to know if i could find gold paint. I once found silver, but i can't remember where i found that. Any suggestions, advice, tips??? Thank you so much in advance!

I have found that if you paint the gold luster dust (mix the dust w/ vodka to make a thick paste) onto brown, it shows up really well and looks just right!

I'm sorry I don't have much experience with the gold dust but I was in Sur La Table recently (they also have online and catalog) and they had a pure gold edible paint. Kind of pricey though. HTH
