don't feel bad...people like that don't deserve any feeling at all especially when he called you a b***h. He was asking for the impossible for such a short time and I would instantly say, `Sorry, I cannot make that cake of such great details. Try someone else.'
This is what you get when the kids who are constantly told how "special" they are - get to adulthood.
Notice I didn't say they "grow up"!
my guess, and Im being mean about it. He forgot and panicked.....you think if someone really wanted to blow thier wife away they would have waited till the last second??![]()
I meant this-mama-rocks....sorry
no worries! rock on!!
Good for you for sticking to your guns and not discounting your services. You are worth MORE than the opinion of this self serving JERK! Consider the source on this one, hon...he's just so not worth your time. (((HUGS))))
That was completely uncalled for! I really wish he'd tried me first (I'm in The Hague), I'd have given him as good as he gave (better actually). Men like this make me want to stab them. I still can't believe he treated you like that!!! (((hugs)))
I do have to say a couple of things though, I looked at your website, and in your pricing section you state that the minimum cost of any cake is 77 euro (and rightly so, mine is 75
). So by telling him it will cost him 70 euros, you have already demonstrated that you will come down in price (especially if he has read your pricing page) - bad move. I think he saw his opportunity to try to bully you down even more in price. I'm glad you didn't budge, but stick with what's in black and white in future, for your own sake! Plus, if you really want my opinion, you really undercharge anyway. You produce beautiful, highly detailed cakes for only 3,50 a serving - wow! My base price for fondant/marzipan is 3,75 per serving, and that would never include the amount of detail on your children's cakes, they would be more like 5,00-7,00 per serving!
Hi MikeRowesHunny
Thanks for your feedback! The 77 / 3.50 per serving is actually only alive since the past two days. Three days ago, it was still 75 minimum / 3.00 per serving for children/ anniversary cakes. I know that is somehow a silly price, but I am still struggling with these kind of cakes. I experience that, where I am located, people are more than willing to pay for their wedding cake, but that a birthday cake above, say, 125, is considered totally ludracris. Even my own hubby says that nobody is going to pay like 300 for a birthday cake. That is the reason that I don't dare to raise my prices in that field (I already considered it quite a step to raise them 0.50!). And yes, it is stupid, because those cakes with all the details and puppets and God knows what else on the cake, cost me a hours and hours. I don't make a penny on those. The only satisfaction is the happy face of the customer when they come to pick up the cake
.
About coming down in price from the start... you are totally right. I should never have done that in the first place. When he started with his first order (the over the top one), he already dropped a few hints on his financial situation. It being his anniversary and all... I felt sorry for him. Okay, I really learned from this experience. Stick to my prices, stick to my delivery terms etc. It seems necessary to avoid any problems!

It's a SHOW OFF statement to the wife's co-workers, not a Haiti relief effort. He can't afford it, and wants "over the top"? ![]()

No one should get a discount or freebie.... ok, except I heard once about making special BDAy cakes for foster children....
do you have his email address and phone number? if yes, google all the timeshares, indian mobile phone call centres and religion organisations you can and sign him up for as many as you can....... or maybe thats just me that would do that
Baaahhhhaaa!!
Love it!
Sounds like the guy's a big JERK, forgot the anniversary, and now just wants to flaunt what he doesn't have. And when he finally came to realization that his anniversary was close by he decided to do something really romantic like those cake shows. You know they never mention prices, so they must be cheap. Yeah...right!
What a bully
Don't feel oblagated to jusify your price to anyone. If we were talking about any high-end merchendice (like a kitchenaid stand mixer), no one ever questions cost. You get what you pay for.I sounds like he was picking other bakers before he got ot you. You're the only one who would consider his redicoulis request.Don't feel bad you should pat your self on the back. Good job ![]()

sorry for your despire. but discard and move one! its the only thing to do!
you are a licensed business??!!- would he walk into a car dealership and demand they go down on their prices? would he go to the grocery store and yell and belittle the butcher because he didnt like their prices. probably not.
just let it go. you did everything possible to try and please your customer.
coming and venting - im sure has made it alittle easier pill to swallow.
