Swiss Meringue Or Italian Meringue Buttercream?

Does anyone know the difference between swiss meringue buttercream and Italian meringue buttercream. The recipes seem similar but do you use them for different applications? Is the taste different?

The techniques are different. In IMBC a boiled sugar is added to whipped egg whites. In SMBC the egg whites, and sugar are cooked together. Personally I prefer IMBC I think it's silkier.
