I have an order for a teen that likes scarface .
Ihave no idea how to translate this into cake . Any thoughts ?
I was going to just print something off and stick it on the cake but that doesn't feel very creative . I was also thinking of machine guns but that seems kinda sick for a birthday cake . Help !

Well, do you remember how he has the globe that says something like "the world is yours"? Maybe you could use a half ball pan and use melted chocolate to do that wording around it? Maybe with some gold luster dust or something. My hubby is a huge Scarface fan, too. Hope this gives you an idea.

I've never seen the movie, but the new 'Anniversary Edition' DVD cover looks cool, half black and half white with the sillouette (sp?) in the center. That might be cool on a sheet cake.

Oh, yeah! That would be cool. But in the movie he has this globe with the words"the world is yours" going around it. It was just an idea. But the cover sounds great!!! Let me know what you decide to do.

Do you think I should just print out a pic of the DVD cover or try to transfer it on . It looks kinda difficult to transfer . The globe idea is neat but the order is for a sheet cake and I am possitive this customer won't pay for any extra touches .
This customer always pics things that are difficult to do in cake but only wants to pay my standard price .

You could print out the picture and cut it into a stencil. Here is how I do these difficult transfers. My buttercream transfers never come out right.

I print the picture on a sturdy piece of paper, a little thicker than copy paper, (I have actually used just regular copy paper also but the stencil is generally ruined after one use), and then I take an Exacto knife or razor blade and cut out the details that I want to show on the cake. I then place the stencil on the cake and use a needle to lightly "draw" the picture into the frosting after it has crusted. I use a needle because it is much smaller than a toothpick. Then just fill in with icing.

Hope this helps!

Be sure to post the pic after it is done.

Is this the omage you were thinking about using??

I don't know that it would be too hard to recreate as a BCT. IF you are not confident in a BCT, then I say have it printed as an edible image.

I don't mind at all , you guys are the ones coming up with all the ideas ! icon_biggrin.gif
I found a silhouete that I like from a t-shirt site , seems easier than the dvd cover and yes the pic above is the one I was originally thinking of , seems to hard for me .
I'm making it tonight , will try to post tomorrow am .
I've never posted pics before should I post it here or in the gallery ?
I guess the gallery would be best . Answered my own question icon_smile.gif
Thanks for the help everyone

OH My I own a t-shirt with that black, red and white image.. LOVE Scarface.. Why don't you try something like a shadow box.. A friend of mine has one and it has that saying " Make way for the bad guy". It has a picture of scarface and a bullet on top and a cigar on the bottom.. Maybe you could the bullet and cigar out of fondant or MMF and add a BCT in the middle.. border it with a dark brown to give the look of wood.. Spray the bottom with brown spray icing aswell.. Hope this helps.. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT YOU DO!!!!
