What kind of wire is used for decorating a cake with fondant stars? I bought some jewelry wire from Hobby Lobby and it was in a roll. Where can I get the straight kind at that you stick right in the cake? I think i bought the wrong one..lol.....Thanks

I use the straight wire from the floral department.

I get some of mine at Michaels craft store, some times in the jewelry dept and sometimes in the floral dept. I try to get at least 18 gauge. Any thing higher wont be strong enough. With wire, the lower the gauge, the stronger. By the way, you really shouldnt put them directly into your cake. They are NOT food safe. I insert them into coffee stirrers first and then into the cake. I think there is a thread on here that would give you more info on this. If someone else knows it, could you please post. HTH.
