Clean Presentation?

I'm new at this whole cake decorating thing, and i get icing everywhere when i'm icing a cake... how do you keep the area around the cake so clean? Do you move the cake to a clean cake platter?? Any tips would be awesome!! Thanks icon_smile.gif

You can try putting pieces of parchment paper or wax paper arround the cake with just a lil of the paper under the cake so you can pull it after u are done icing the cake, but before putting your borders. I Dont know if I explained my self right, hope u undestand me and hope it helps.
