I just tried the suggestion another poster gave when putting wires into cakes and it worked PERFECTLY. She/He (can't remember the name I am sorry). You take sucker sticks and those floral wires will slide right down the center! They don't slide so easily they'll come out the bottom but they will go right in!!! So EASY!!!

Remember the sticks come in lots of different lengths!

I was thinking about this, are you talking about the pressed paper sucker sticks? And do I understand correctly, that they stay in firmly? When you take the flower off the cake, does the stick come with it or is it left in the cake?

I think she means the hollow plastic lollipop sticks. They will fit a single wrapped wire fairly tightly and they come out with the wire rather than remaining in the cake. They're great to use if you can find them. I always buy the candy mold kits on clearance and they usually have some in there but when I look for them at Michaels I only see the paper ones.
