what does it mean when some one selects one of your pictures as a favorite??

That they really liked it! And or that they wanted to save it for inspiration/ideas.
If you look on the left side of your screen you will see a favorite photos under your account stuff. If you saved pictures to your favorite then you can click on that and see all the pictures you have saved.
