Did someone say Eggnog. May i have that in a cake?
I also Love this time of year. We have a Mother Daughter tea every year. Eveyone that we invite comes and brings thier mother, daughters and Grandmothers. We all have such a great time. I made 5,000 cookies last year it was so great.
ok everyone... gather round...lets raise our glasses of eggnog and toast to the coming holiday season with fondant that doesnt get lumpy, butter cream that crusts....cakes that dont split....layers that stay put...cookies that keep their shape...satisfied customers....1/2 off coupons from Michaels and lots of help from our friends....group hug
Wait, wait, buttercream that goes on smooth. I use IMBC, it's not supposed to crust. Okay, my glass is raised.
Am jumping in here because I just can't get in the Christmas spirit yet, am hoping some might rub off!! Do you guys have your eggnog warm? A big cold glass of strawberry bubbles over here at the moment - another 40 degree day!
Lauren
Have you seen the "Who wants to joi me in making Christmas baskets" thread yet? That might get you in the mood. And what does strawberry bubbles?
Have my xmas tree out!YEP!!!!!!
Kids look at me like "the crazy lady" is at it again, but don't mind a bit.Nothing ruins this season for me.Not a thing.
Strawberry bubbles = Pink Champagne with strawberry flavour!
Heading over to the Christmas basket thread.
I so look forward to the Christmas Holiday for so many reasons...our gift from God, family, ornaments, and time to just sit back and just "be." I also especially love having fudge and eggnog for breakfast! I know, I know, it's not the breakfast of champions, but it's so yummy!
I just found a recipe for fudge eggnog!!! Can life be any better? THE best of both worlds has just collided for me. Yippee! Have any of you tried it?
(Sorry, I just had Dr. Pepper and I'm a little wired.)
Champagne-- WooHoo!!
MaryAllison, please post that recipe when you get a chance. My Christmas breakfast usually consist of sugar cookies and eggnog!!
LaBellaFlor,
I do almost all the cookies myself for the Tea. I have a 9 yo Daughter that has been helping since she was around 4-5 but my mother never cooks and my grandmother is in an apartment so can't really do any of them. So I take it all on. Everyone loves it, so it is so worth the work. I take the extras to the nieghbors for their gifts. I think they like them more then anything i could buy. The kids in the nieghborhood come to meet us when we walk to give them out in 1900's clothing. Lots of fun.

WOW! You must be a seriously organized baker!
I love this time of year too! Love spending time in the kitchen making cookies and candies and having a diet coke and divinity for breakfast. I love the time I get to spend with my family or my husband's family. It is just a great time of year!
...and having a diet coke and divinity for breakfast...
They're playing my song!!!!!!
I mean o.m.g do you know how much sugar & calories there is in the non-diet coke???!!!
<faint>
Probably more than what is in the divinity. I figure the diet coke calories cancel the divinity calories. Right?

Exactly!

DITTO!
I made blueberry pancakes this morning with mascarpone cheese on them instead of syrup and man-0-man, heaven.
Now that I've got some dosh (cash, in UK lingo), I can get my shopping done ... so NOW I have that fuzzy feeling!
As for the egg nog ... add some Kalhua and I'm in! (My dad used to put Bailey's in his.) Or orange juice to the champagne for a mimosa.
(No, we aren't a family of alcoholics ... the only time I enjoy a beverage of a sociable nature is on my summer vacation and Xmas - and only if I'm not driving.)
