What Filling For Red Velvet Cake?

I am making a red velvet cake for the first time & want to add a filling. It will be covered in buttercream. Any ideas?

I've only made one and I used cream cheese icing/filling. I'm curious to what other filling would be good.

Being from the South, the only filling for Red Velvet cake is Cream Cheese filling!

when i make red velvet cakes.. i use cream cheese filling and ice the cake with it.. that is all... i have ever known.... there is a mock buttercream..that is wonderful with it also.. i think the recipe is on this site.. i forgot that i use that when a customer ask for that ...

I like to fill my Red Velvet cake with pecan praline filling. I got the recipe from the Wilton website:
