I am attempting to make a coworker just a classic yellow cake with chocolate frosting that his mom used to make. They really like the chocolate store bought frosting texture. All I seem to find are chocolate buttercream recipes. Wouldnt this be a cooked then whipped frosting? Any good recipe I could use?
Thanks in advance!
I've never cooked, then whipped a frosting, but I think storebought is just regular buttercream? Are you asking about the kind they use on bakery cakes, or that you can buy in a can in the baking aisle? The canned kind is just buttercream; I'm sure there are all kinds of 'nasties' in there (preservatives, etc.) that may affect the taste and texture a little, but if that's what he likes, why not just buy your icing?
