Hello,
I need to make an R2R2 cake and I want to know how I would get a round shape for the head. I only have a 6" ball pan and I haven't seen them Amy bigger. Can someone please help me?
Thanks,
neida
Do you have a mixing bowl the right size? You can bake in a metal bowl or even in a glass one.
you can use any oven safe glass bowl ie: pyrex.
if you are carving, just take it slowly - u can take more of, its much harder to stick it back on!

Betty crocker actually puts out a pan that has the 8 inch half circle,It is called the Betty Crocker Bake N Fill pan and comes with 4 pieces..one being the 8 inch half round. That's what I use but you may have to use a 8 inch round pyrex oven safe bowl.
I recently made an R2D2 cake (see my pics) and used this tutorial - http://www.bsideblog.com/2008/06/making-the-most-amazing-r2d2-c.php
I made it with 6 inch rounds ( I think it was 4 or 5 layers) and the round part was made from the ball pan. The arms were rice krispy treats.
