Lace Pattern On Black Fondant....help?

Hi all, I want to cover a cake in black fondant for this weekend. I also want it to have a lace pattern on it somehow. If I took a piece of lace and rolled my rolling pin over the rolled out fondant would that work? Has anyone ever done this?
