Do you tint the gumpaste and then add the chalk and steam? OR do you use untinted gumpaste and add color with the chalk?

I'm doing a fall arrangement (vibrant colors) and wanted to know the best method please.

I would color first, then dust or if you need really vibrant colors, paint the dried pieces with a mix of gel color and vodka.
